Ventilation is an important aspect of incubation, as we need to bring oxygen to the eggs, and we need to remove carbon dioxide, moisture and heat.

When we know the properties of the embryo and we know what conditions we want in the machines, we can calculate what the ventilation rate of a machine should be, based on either heat production, carbon dioxide production or moisture production.

In this article the theoretical aspects of these calculations are given, with some examples of the required ventilation in practical situations, both for multi stage and single stage machines.
