The transfer period from rearing to production is very important for both males and females. This is due to the fact that the birds should not fall back in growth and body development during this period. Males normally have more problems adapting to a new housing system than females. They have more problems finding feed and water and getting used to the slats as well.
- To make the transfer period as smoothly as possible, make sure that the males are in good condition and on body weight before transfer.
- If possible, transfer the males a few days before the females, so that they can get used to the new housing system.
- start immediately with feeding the males from their own male feeder system, so they get used to the system
-make sure that all the males get on the slats and find the drinkers. A few days of no water can cause severe damage to their development.
